NYC Police Union Historically Endorses Trump

During an election year, it’s common to hear of endorsements for one candidate or another. However, it would be a misunderstanding to think that all endorsements are common. Take the New York City Police Benevolent Association, for example. In all their years of existence, they have not once ever endorsed a presidential candidate.

And yet, this year, they made history and did so. Can you guess who they chose?

Yep, you got it.

The NYC PBA officially now backs President Donald Trump for reelection.

At a recent meeting at the Trump golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, the police union, which represents about 50,000 active and retired New York City Police Department officers, made their support of our president official.

PBA president Pat Lynch noted the historic decision made by the union and praised President Trump for his efforts to “earn” their support.

Lynch said, “I have 36 years on this job, 21 as the president of this fine organization. I cannot remember when we’ve ever endorsed for the Office of the President of the United States, until now. That’s how important this is.”

The PBA president went on to explain that they have never endorsed a president before because endorsements should not be given, especially just because someone in leadership likes one candidate more than another. Instead, endorsements should be earned. And according to Lynch, President Trump has earned every bit of this endorsement.

He said, “Many times, people say that a union like ours, law enforcement groups, give endorsements. Not in the New York City PBA, sir. In the New York City PBA, sir, you earn the endorsement and you’ve earned this endorsement. I’m proud to give it.”

Not that we could blame Lynch or any police officer, for that matter, for wanting to endorse the ‘law and order’ president we have in Trump. In a time when police nationwide are being shoved in a box and one that labels them as evil and unnecessary, Trump has been one of the few to stand in support of our law enforcement.

When cities across the nation began to cry for the defunding of police, Trump criticized these moves, claiming that law and order is a must-have for the safety and security of our nation and her people. He was also one of the few voices to oppose the New York City Council’s decision to cut the NYPD budget by $1 billion for the upcoming year.

In contrast, Democratic assumed nominee Joe Biden and his new running mate Senator Kamala Harris have let the violence and mayhem that is tearing our cities apart go on with consequences or even a critical word. They have simply sat still while national monuments have been destroyed and defaced, entire communities were looted and burned to the ground, and businesses of America’s working-class have been laid to ruin.

Well, that’s not entirely true. Biden has sat and watched in silence. Harris, on the other, has only encouraged the Black Lives Matter movement and the destruction it leaves in its wake. And when it comes it the police themselves, she says the whole idea of law enforcement in America needs to be “reimagined.”

As The View reported, she said, “We have confused the idea that to achieve safety, you put more cops on the street instead’ of allocating resources to other services such as education and housing.” She and others such as New York City’s Mayor, the socialist Bill de Blasio, keep “passing this false narrative that New York City police officers and law enforcement are evil,” as Lynch says. But, “How absurd is that? That they blame us for society’s ills?”

No wonder they aren’t willing to stand with Biden and the party that has only increased their daily risks.

Instead, they will stand with someone who promised to support and back them. As the political left has seemed to declare “war on cops,” President Trump has vowed to the NYPD and law enforcement around the nation, “We’re going to give you back our status. My agenda is ‘anti-crime and pro-cops.'”
