President Donald Trump proved once again he’s the king of trolling when he took a jab at Taylor Swift during a White House celebration for the Super Bowl LIX Champion Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaking on Monday during a ceremony on the South Lawn, Trump praised the Eagles for their blowout victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Swift, famously dating Chiefs star Travis Kelce, was seen cheering on the Chiefs during the February Super Bowl, where they ultimately lost 22-40.
“And you know what happened. It was an incredible game,” Trump said about the Eagles’ decisive win. “It was a little surprising. But right from the beginning of the first quarter of the big game, which I was there. I watched in person.”
Then he landed the jab heard around the South Lawn: “I was there, along with Taylor Swift. How did that work out? How did that one work out?”
The crowd erupted in laughter at Trump’s trolling, solidifying the moment as yet another in his long history of quick, sharp jabs at celebrities who oppose him.
Trump and Swift’s public feud dates back to 2024, when Swift endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. In a widely shared Instagram post, Swift encouraged her followers to vote for Harris and then-Governor Tim Walz, praising their stance on “LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body.”
Trump responded in classic Trumpian fashion with an all-caps social media post: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!”
Later that year, Trump spoke on Fox and Friends about Swift’s political leanings. He expressed admiration instead for Brittany Mahomes, wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, after she publicly liked one of Trump’s social media posts — much to the outrage of left-wing critics.
“She’s a big Trump fan,” Trump said of Brittany Mahomes. “I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time. She couldn’t… you couldn’t possibly endorse [Joe] Biden.”
He added: “You look at Biden, you couldn’t possibly endorse him. But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”
Trump wrapped up his comments by praising Brittany Mahomes, saying, “I like Brittany. I think Brittany’s great. She got a lot of news last week…”
Following the Eagles’ victory, Trump also posted on Truth Social, celebrating the Eagles’ win and taking another swipe at Swift.
“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!” he wrote.
As Trump’s White House events continue to blend politics with viral moments, his latest jab at Swift is sure to reignite their feud — and keep Trump’s base cheering.
