A pair of well-connected Democrats have revealed a confusing plan to oust President Joe Biden. The plan involves turning the DNC on its head, telling Harris to stay in her lane, ranked-choice voting, and weekly candidate forums moderated by celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Taylor Swift, and Michelle Obama.
It sounds like a bizarre political after-school special, but Rosa Brooks, policy adviser for Biden’s 2020 campaign, and venture capitalist and prominent Democratic donor Ted Dintersmith have released a memo full of advice to help Democrats turn the clown show into an even bigger circus.
The plan involves President Joe Biden’s agreement to step aside by mid-July, opening the door for other Democrats to try their luck in the crapshoot. Only six will be selected to move forward based on the number of votes they receive. These new challengers would place their political fate in the hands of celebrities and a snubbed Vice President Kamala Harris during a “blitz primary.”
The ‘blitz primary’ would feature weekly forums with each candidate, moderated by well-known “cultural icons.” Delegates would use a ranked-choice voting system to choose the nominee before the Democratic National Convention begins in Chicago on August 19.
Brooks and Dintersmith also propose that the nominee be introduced on stage alongside Biden, former President Barack Obama, and former President Bill Clinton.
The memo, which Dintersmith and Brooks claim is receiving “widespread support,” further insists that the six candidates must “pledge” to keep their campaigns positive.
But the plan’s success hinges on a tiny detail – Biden must buy into it and voluntarily step aside for it to move forward. For his part, Biden has been refusing to step down, calling his disastrous debate performance “one bad night.” Another issue is that some Democrats support Vice President Kamal Harris as a Biden replacement, and this plan will not automatically install her on the throne.
The memo suggests that America seeks an “uplifting choice.” Still, it acknowledges that the plan doesn’t stand a chance unless Party leaders, including President Biden, prioritize the country’s needs over “political considerations.”
To soften the blow on Biden, the memo points out that Biden has fifty years of “distinguished service” and notes that he deserves admiration, gratitude, and respect. But, the memo cautions, he doesn’t deserve “blind loyalty.”
This plan is one of several being floated by frantic Democrats responding to an abysmal Biden debate performance that highlighted the President’s diminished mental capacities for a stunned nation to see. During the debate, he frequently lost his train of thought and looked confused while Trump spoke. After the debate, Biden lingered around his podium until First Lady Jill Biden guided him off the stage.
But new reports from the left reveal that the President might have had another excuse to add to his existing ones. Biden left his hotel in Atlanta 27 minutes late and arrived with less than half an hour to spare, giving him no time to “learn where to look when Trump was speaking,” according to the Washington Post. Consequently, he often looked in the wrong direction, “appearing” as if staring into space and unaware of what was happening. Biden later attributed his poor performance at the debate to exhaustion and illness, mentioning that he even had to take a COVID test before the debate.
He then made things worse by granting a one-on-one interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, but even his own party wasn’t convinced. Another interview after the debate gained attention when Biden mistakenly said he was a ‘black woman’ while trying to praise his appointment of Harris as vice president. It was later revealed that Biden’s team had given an interviewer pre-written questions at WURD radio in Philadelphia. The interviewer, Andrea Lawful-Sanders, was subsequently fired, with WURD stating that using pre-determined questions violated their commitment to being an independent media outlet.
The memo argues that donations will flood in if Democrats follow the plan and suggest that Biden would be praised as a “modern-day George Washington” for stepping down for the good of the country. It states, “We can limp to shameful, avoidable democracy-ending defeat. Or Democrats can make this Our Finest Hour.” The memo also references Biden’s comments about stepping down when the Lord Almighty told him to, adding, “While we hope for help from the Lord, the Lord helps those who help themselves. We need to act now.”
The plan is just one of several being floated around by lawmakers, but they all need one crucial thing to move forward – Biden’s blessing. But no matter what they think, no Democrat is God… and Biden isn’t listening to mere mortals.
