President Donald Trump just notched another major win—this time in the court of public opinion.

A fresh poll from InsiderAdvantage shows Trump’s job approval has soared to 55%, with just 44% disapproving and only 1% undecided. That’s a significant 9-point net positive rating, and it marks Trump’s highest approval level with this pollster since returning to office.

Pollster Matt Towery, who accurately called Trump’s 2016 and 2020 performances, said the results aren’t a surprise. “Other pollsters who accurately polled election cycles where President Trump’s name appeared on the ballot have been showing his approval ratings moving into the fifty-percent-plus range,” Towery noted.

And this isn’t a one-off. Across multiple surveys, Trump is gaining momentum:

  • Harvard-Harris: 47% approval
  • Rasmussen: 49% approval
  • Morning Consult: 48% approval

In April, InsiderAdvantage (partnered with Trafalgar) had Trump at just 46%. In March, he ticked up to 50%. This month’s number cements a clear upward trend.

RealClearPolitics’ average of national polls has also shifted in Trump’s favor. Three weeks ago, Trump’s approval was underwater by nearly seven points. Today, he’s just two points below even: 47.1% approve to 49.1% disapprove—a net swing of nearly five points in a matter of weeks.

So what’s behind the rise?

The surge appears to be driven by a combination of foreign policy wins, economic optimism, and a stark contrast with former President Joe Biden’s declining health and approval. Trump’s high-profile Middle East trip—where he negotiated investment deals and moved forward on a potential peace framework involving Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Israel—has helped reframe him as a global statesman. His ongoing talks with Russia and Ukraine are also drawing praise from voters craving stability.

Meanwhile, Trump’s economic policies are getting credit for reversing the media’s predictions of a tariff-induced economic collapse. Instead, the economy is bouncing back, the markets are rising, and manufacturing orders are surging—especially in key swing states.

On domestic issues, Trump continues to hammer the Democrats for their handling of illegal immigration, crime, and cultural chaos. And his moves to dismantle DEI programs, reform federal hiring, and cut waste are resonating with a majority of Americans.

As the media slowly acknowledges the full extent of Biden’s mental and physical decline—and the extent of the deception to cover it up—the contrast with Trump only grows sharper. Voters see Trump as active, coherent, and in command, which is precisely what the country has been missing for four years.

If this trend continues, Trump could enter the 2026 midterms with one of the strongest approval ratings of any second-term president in modern history. For Democrats, that would mean bracing for another red wave.

The InsiderAdvantage poll surveyed 1,000 likely voters between May 17-19.
