Dems Launch Bill Targeting ICE and Border Patrol Identities

President Donald Trump is slamming Democrats for a new bill that would force ICE and Border Patrol agents to remove protective masks and display large, visible ID tags while conducting immigration enforcement, arguing the move would endanger federal agents and embolden violent mobs. Trump’s comments came after Sens. Cory Booker and Alex Padilla unveiled the “VISIBLE Act,” legislation that would prevent ICE and CBP officers from wearing face coverings during operations, even amid rising threats and targeted attacks against these agents across the country.
“Two Democratic senators now, Cory Booker and Alex Padilla, have a new bill out. They want to require CBP and ICE officers to have legible IDs, and they don’t want CBP or ICE officers covering their faces,” Fox News’ Peter Doocy told Trump during a working lunch with African leaders. Trump didn’t hold back, responding, “Well, they wouldn’t be saying that if they didn’t hate our country.” He called ICE and Border Patrol officers “great patriots” who risk their lives daily and blasted Democrats for playing politics with their safety.
Trump warned that requiring agents to unmask would expose them and their families to harassment and violence from left-wing extremists who have been escalating protests against immigration enforcement. “If you expose them, you put them in great danger, tremendous danger,” Trump said, adding that Democrats have become “somewhat deranged” in their anti-enforcement crusade. He noted the hypocrisy of activists demanding anonymity when protesting while seeking to force law enforcement to remove protective coverings that shield their identities from violent agitators.
Trump’s remarks came days after a violent ambush on ICE agents in Alvarado, Texas, where rioters allegedly set off fireworks to lure officers outside before opening fire, leading to the arrest of 10 suspects. Doocy asked if the president saw this as an isolated incident or evidence of a larger, organized threat against ICE and CBP. Trump responded that “very stupid people on the left” are funding these attacks and noted the advanced gear and weapons used by the rioters as signs of a coordinated effort.
Democrats claim the bill is necessary to increase “accountability,” but federal officials have fired back, saying it would directly jeopardize agents’ lives while fueling chaos. DHS has pushed back on the bill, calling it “beyond the pale,” as ICE and CBP agents face a wave of violent threats during enforcement actions in sanctuary cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. Trump pointed out that Democrats consistently side with illegal immigrants over law-abiding citizens and are now doubling down by trying to strip protections from the agents tasked with upholding immigration law.
Amid record deportations and large-scale enforcement sweeps, Trump has made it clear that protecting ICE and Border Patrol agents is non-negotiable, vowing to shield them from radical policies that would expose them to retaliation. He emphasized that “no matter how much Democrats try to defend criminal illegal aliens, President Trump and his Administration will always fight to protect the American people.”
The latest confrontation underscores the stark divide between Trump’s law-and-order stance and Democrats’ push to weaken immigration enforcement, setting up another major clash over the border as Trump moves forward with his plans for historic deportations and the dismantling of sanctuary policies that shield criminal illegal aliens from accountability.
Stay tuned as the debate over the VISIBLE Act heats up, with Trump and his allies arguing it’s yet another example of Democrats prioritizing the far-left’s anti-ICE agenda over the safety of American communities and the federal officers who protect them.
