Hasan Piker, the Democratic Socialists of America's most visible media personality, looked directly into a camera and said this about immigration: "We're going to keep bringing immigrants into this country on purpose. Just so they can f* your sister, and then maybe even your daughter. We're going to destroy the white race."

The clip is as horrifying as it sounds. Piker isn't some anonymous troll with twelve followers. He's a uber-leftist streamer with a massive audience of young people who has spent the summer crisscrossing the country campaigning alongside DSA-endorsed candidates in competitive primaries.

And we're not talking about city council races in Portland. Piker campaigned with Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan. He appeared at a Milwaukee rally alongside Francesca Hong, the DSA's candidate for governor of Wisconsin, plus Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. These are actual campaigns for actual offices — a governor's mansion, congressional seats — and the guy warming up the crowd thinks "destroy the white race" is a punchline.

The standard defense will arrive in about three seconds: he was joking, it's satire, you don't understand internet culture. The problem is that Piker doesn't deliver these lines with a wink. He delivers them with the confidence of someone who knows his audience agrees. And his audience includes the candidates sharing a stage with him.

Nobody forced Francesca Hong to stand next to Hasan Piker at a rally. Nobody forced Ilhan Omar or AOC to appear alongside a man whose idea of political commentary includes fantasizing about racial destruction. They chose him. They promoted the events. They wanted the association.

That's the part the DSA can't walk back. If Piker were just some internet shock jock, you could write it off. But he's functioning as a surrogate — the guy they deploy to fire up young voters in swing states. Wisconsin. Michigan. The same states that decide presidential elections.

So the question for every DSA-backed candidate on the ballot this cycle is simple: Do you agree with the man you invited to campaign for you? Not "do you condemn his rhetoric" — that's the easy dodge. Do you agree with what he said?

Silence works as an answer. It usually does.
