Marc Elias Wants to Abolish Virginia's Entire Government Because Democrats Lost One Court Case — This Is Your 'Democracy' Crowd

Democrat super-lawyer Marc Elias — the man who has built an entire empire on suing democracy into whatever shape benefits his party — is now openly calling for the abolition of Virginia's state government. His crime? The Supreme Court wouldn't let Democrats gerrymander the Commonwealth into a 10-to-1 Democrat advantage in House seats. So naturally, the whole system has to go.

Nothing says "defender of democracy" like demanding you burn down the government the second you lose.

Elias took to posting the Virginia Constitution itself, quoting the section that says "whenever any government shall be found inadequate or contrary to these purposes, a majority of the community hath an indubitable, inalienable, and indefeasible right to reform, alter, or abolish it." He's literally invoking the founding language of Virginia's government to argue that Virginia's government should be destroyed — because a court told his side "no" on redistricting.

Let's be clear about what actually happened here. Democrats drew up a redistricting map that would have handed them 10 out of 11 House seats in Virginia — 10 Democrat seats and just 1 Republican seat. The Supreme Court looked at that absurd power grab and said absolutely not. The Constitution doesn't let you carve up a state like a Thanksgiving turkey just because you want permanent one-party rule.

So what does Elias do? Does he accept the ruling? Does he go back and draw a fair map? Of course not. He goes full scorched earth.

As Greg Price pointed out, "Marc Elias just wants to abolish the entire Virginia government because the Supreme Court wouldn't let them violate the Constitution." That's not a parody. That's not an exaggeration. That is literally what is happening.

Parker Thayer put it perfectly: "Marc Elias has reached the 'publicly calling for the abolition of the government of Virginia' stage." And Steve Guest nailed the underlying truth — "Democrats weren't able to gerrymander the Commonwealth into 10 Democrat House seats," so now the whole thing needs to be torn down.

This is the man the Democrat Party has relied on for years to run their election lawfare operations. This is the guy who files lawsuit after lawsuit in every swing state, challenging every rule that doesn't benefit his clients. And the moment the courts rule against him, he doesn't just disagree — he calls for the elimination of the entire governing structure.

Think about that for a second. These are the same people who spent four years screaming that "democracy dies in darkness." They plastered it on bumper stickers. They made it a newspaper motto. They lectured us endlessly about "norms" and "institutions" and the sacred importance of accepting outcomes you don't like.

But the second a court tells them they can't rig the maps? Abolish the government.

Marc Elias is the perfect mascot for the modern Democrat Party. He loves democracy exactly as long as democracy loves him back. The second it doesn't, he reaches for the matches. Twitchy had a field day with this one, and they should — because this is the mask-off moment we've been waiting for.

Remember this the next time a Democrat lectures you about "threats to democracy." The only threat they actually care about is losing.
