UFC President Dana White has officially locked in what could become the most talked-about fight night in mixed martial arts history — and it’s happening on the front lawn of the White House. Speaking to CBS Mornings, White declared, “It is definitely going to happen,” ending weeks of speculation about the rumored 2026 Independence Day event.

According to White, the idea came straight from President Donald Trump himself. “When he called me and asked me to do it, he said, ‘I want Ivanka in the middle of this,’” White recalled. Ivanka Trump personally reached out to begin working on the concept, leading to detailed renderings of how the massive fight card could unfold on one of the most recognizable properties in the world.

The announcement is the second major development for the UFC in as many days. On Monday, news broke that the organization had signed a staggering $7.7 billion streaming deal with Paramount. The agreement will allow UFC to simulcast certain events on CBS, signaling a major shift away from the sport’s long-standing reliance on traditional pay-per-view. Still, White assured fans that select pay-per-view events would remain in the mix.

For White, this hybrid broadcasting strategy is about adapting to a rapidly changing media landscape. “There are so many disruptors in the world right now,” he said. “Who would have thought taxi cabs would disappear or cable television would start to go away?” He emphasized that while pay-per-view still plays a role, streaming platforms open the door to much larger audiences — and live sports remain a “destination watch” that must be seen in real time.

The White House fight card will be unlike any event in UFC history. Not only will it be held at an iconic location steeped in American history, but it will also land on the nation’s biggest summer holiday — promising a combination of patriotic celebration and full-contact adrenaline. While no official matchups have been announced yet, several high-profile fighters are reportedly eager to be part of it, including recently retired heavyweight legend Jon Jones.

White, who has been a longtime friend and supporter of President Trump, hinted that the event could feature a lineup designed to draw massive viewership both in person and online. With the UFC’s new streaming capabilities, the fight night could become one of the most-watched live sporting events in history.

Whether it’s the historic setting, the larger-than-life personalities involved, or the sheer novelty of seeing cage fights on the White House lawn, one thing is certain — July 4th, 2026, will be a date fight fans will circle in bold red ink. And with Trump’s knack for turning every event into a media spectacle, the UFC’s most ambitious stage yet might just redefine what’s possible in the world of sports entertainment.
